New Max Planck supercomputer
The new supercomputer for the Max Planck Society to be built by Atos and based on latest AMD processor technologies will replace MPCDF’s Cobra system in the course of 2023 and 2024.
The new supercomputer for the Max Planck Society, based on AMD’s latest processor technologies will be bullt by Atos and will start replacing the current supercomputer Cobra later this year. The new Atos system will consist of ten water-cooled BullSequana XH3000 racks with a total of 768 processor nodes (based on 4th Gen AMD EPYC “Genoa” CPUs) and 192 accelerator nodes (with AMD Instinct MI300A APUs) and will be complemented with an IBM SpectrumScale storage solution. The CPU system will be deployed in the third quarter of 2023, with full installation of the GPU system expected in the first half of 2024.
